European Commission approved 68 million euros for the Gaza Strip

The European Commission announced the approval of an additional 68 million euros in humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip in view of the deterioration of that Palestinian enclave, after more than six months of Israeli military operation

According to the bloc, the aid will contribute to the assistance to the residents of that area and will be distributed by the humanitarian organizations present on the ground.

In the current year, the European Union has already allocated around 193 million Euros in support for the catastrophe in the area and the death of more than 34,000 Palestinians.

The new funding will contribute to food, nutritional and health assistance, access to water, sanitation and housing for the inhabitants of the Strip, where these resources are desperately needed, according to the European Executive in a statement.

Likewise, the EU continues with its reinforcement operations through the so-called humanitarian air bridge and the deployment of more than two thousand tons of basic necessities and food to the site.

Data from the regional mechanism show that, since the worsening of the crisis last October, the bloc has carried out 48 actions of this kind.
