Cuban actor Jorge Perugorría to receive the National Film Award

Actor and director Jorge Perugorría will receive today the National Film Award, as part of the celebrations for the 65th anniversary of the Cuban Institute of Cinematographic Art and Industry (Icaic)

The award announced the day before, will be presented at 5:00 p.m. local time at a ceremony in the Yara Hall in Havana, a gala that includes a concert by the Amadeo Roldan Music Conservatory Symphony Orchestra.

A jury meeting at the Hotel Nacional de Cuba, chaired by Cuban writer, poet, and ethnologist Miguel Barnet, decided to give the prize to Perugorría for the high merits of his long career and undeniable work as a cultural promoter.

The jury also included prestigious personalities such as legendary actress Eslinda Núñez, National Film Award winner; directors Héctor Veitía and Lourdes de los Santos; and makeup artist Magaly Pompa, also a National Film Award winner.

Perugorria’s talent and acting work have been recognized in multiple national and international venues.

Millions of admirers will celebrate this award, the Minister of Culture, Alpidio Alonso, wrote in his account on the social network X.

The first secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and president of the Republic, Miguel Díaz-Canel, also congratulated the actor on Saturday.
