The first session of the intergovernmental commission for cooperation with Cuba will take place in early May in Havana.

According to sources in the State Committee for Science and Technologies, preparatory and organizational tasks of the first major meeting between the two countries were the main topic in a recent meeting between the head of that Russian body and the Cuban ambassador Gerardo Suarez.

The Belarusian-Cuban commission will be responsible for analyzing projects for scientific-technical, economic and trade collaboration in its first working session in 2016.

The two governments are interested in strengthening the exchange in the areas of agriculture, construction machinery, energy, health and environmental and ecological protection.

In parallel, the stay of the Belarusian delegation in Cuba includes a program of official visits to the respective ministries and Cuban entities, reported Belta agency.

It was also announced tours of the National Cancer Institute, the Center for Molecular Immunology and the University of Havana.
