In an interview with Prensa Latina, Serrano confirmed to have met here with Alfonso Ulloa, president of the Dominican Campaign of Solidarity with Cuba and Milagros Rivera, of the Solidarity Movement with Puerto Rico.

This has been the third preparatory meeting held by organizers of the venue to be held in the Dominican Republic in July next year and for that, we have benefited from the context of the 120th anniversary of the Montecristi Manifesto, signed by Dominican independence general Maximo Gomez and Cuban National Hero, Jose Marti in that northern Dominican location on March 25, 1895.

Serrano said they expect the Eighth Continental Meeting of Solidarity with Cuba to be held from July 28-30, 2016 and will be hosted by the Dominican Republic and as co-sponsor the sister island of Puerto Rico.

She said it is the first occasion to organize a meeting of this magnitude in the Caribbean as previous ones were held in the continent and that strengthens a vision of an ever more coordinated movement, with greater presence in the Caribbean islands that have a long solidarity tradition with Cuba.

The ICAP President said in continental events, it is the third time they include the United States and Canada, as in both countries there is a powerful movement in solidarity networks with Cuba.

She assured this will be an occasion to speak not only about the historical links uniting all the peoples of America, but also to build new initiatives around the Bolivarian Alliance of the Peoples of Our America (ALBA) allowing for a real solidarity integration on bases of equality and without foreign interference.

She said there will be debates on the role of youth in the continent, the unjust judicial system of the United States and the treatment given to political prisoners.

Serrano recalled that in the first semester of 2016 will take place the Seventh Congress of the Cuban Communist Party and the continental meeting will be a good occasion to spread its decisions and update friends on the progress of the Cuban economic model.

She insisted that the solidarity meeting will also be looking to other causes, like the great campaign claiming that president Barack Obama reverts the decree considering Venezuela a threat to U.S. national security.

From that Continental venue we will exit strengthened, building a path where solidarity, integration and unity will be key to have a movement for many years in our region, she asserted.
