Since 2024, when the Valle del Caonao Grain Agroindustrial Enterprise, based in Yaguajay, began identifying the main needs regarding renewable energy sources, it strengthened its steps in this direction with the purpose of ensuring its vital processes.
After acquiring a solar panel kit for the Las Flores production hub through the ALASS collaboration project, the center made progress in installing other modules aimed at the facility’s strategic areas.
Nayalién Díaz Acosta, chief specialist in Development and Investments at Valle del Caonao, explained this to Escambray, detailing that the entity has 22 kilowatts of installed power to date, valued at 14.2 million pesos in national currency.
These systems, she said, in addition to benefiting the Las Flores production hub, guarantee electricity in key areas of the company such as accounting, finance, and management. “So far, we have 16 kilowatts installed at the institution’s headquarters and we expect to reach 35,” the same source clarified.
Díaz Acosta pointed out that obtaining these photovoltaic systems has been achieved through bank loans backed by the center’s investment plan, which aims to improve production processes with a municipal self-supply approach.
The specialist stressed that a renewable energy system will also be installed at the Eduardo Lamas Marketing UEB. “We already have the financing approved. This site requires about 100 kilowatts of power for its operations, and the site’s electrical installation has five switchboards. Therefore, we aspire for it to operate in cascade form, and for each of its areas to work alternately.”
“With the installation of this photovoltaic module, in addition to providing service to producers, the aim is to assume part of the energy consumption of the town of Iguará, where the company is located.”
Lastly, she highlighted that regarding renewable energy sources, Valle del Caonao is outlining within its projections the installation of solar panels in the irrigation systems of the center-pivot machines at the Batey Colorado production hub, in the sanitary slab and the mini-industry for making cheese and yogurt, which it is incorporating into its operations, and in other areas of the company’s main headquarters.
