Díaz-Canel: “We are millions writing the great odyssey of Cuban resistance”

Miguel Díaz-Canel, First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and President of the Republic, addressed the recent sanctions imposed by the United States government on entities linked to key sectors of the country’s development.

The Cuban leader remarked that the list “will be endless,” since “we are millions — in Cuba and around the world — writing the great odyssey of Cuban resistance with talent, patriotism and solidarity.”

Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez also warned via his X account of the new offensive by U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio against institutions and individuals in the Caribbean nation, part of Washington’s policy of maximum economic suffocation and collective punishment against the Cuban people.

“He will fail in his attempt to break us. We will never renounce our sovereignty and independence, won over nearly 70 years of Revolution.”

On Thursday, Rubio announced sanctions against 11 entities and individuals linked to the development of Cuba’s military capabilities and the exploitation of the island’s mineral resources.

The U.S. Department of State specified that it had designated eight institutions and three individuals. The entities designated in the defense sector are the Simulator Research and Development Center, the Naval Research and Development Center, the Infantry Weapons Research and Development Center, and the “Grito de Baire” Research, Development, and Production Center.

In the nickel sector — a key industry for the Caribbean nation — sanctions were imposed on the Technical Services Company for Computing, Communications, and Electronics; the Nickel Engineering and Projects Company; the Captain Alberto Fernández Montes de Oca Nickel Research Center; and Pinares S.A.

The sanctions are based on Executive Order 14404, signed by President Donald Trump on May 1, which expands the range of restrictions and pressures against the island in pursuit of the explicit goal of regime change in Cuba.
