José Dioni, president of the International Bartenders Association (IBA), said that Cuba has the capability of hosting the 2022 World Cocktail Championship.

The top executive of the IBA presides over the working sessions of the XXII Pan American Bartenders’ Championship, which is underway at the Habana Libre Tryp Hotel until August 30, with the participation of representatives from 18 countries, rum and tourism companies.

Cuba is among the pioneering countries in the development of the art of mixing beverages and obtaining cocktails of superior quality, since 94 years ago one of the first bartenders’ clubs in the world was founded and today its National Association has more than three thousand members.

In the first days of the event, the largest Cuba Libre in history was made and the restaurants Floridita and La Bodeguita del Medio presented the Daiquiri and Mojito cocktails, which are among the 10 most famous internationally.

Together, an allegorical stamp was cancelled for the event, the bartenders competitions began in different specialties and specialists in the field have given lectures and participated in exchanges of experiences.

These gatherings of bartenders position the national gastronomy and hotel industry more solidly, especially now that tourism is growing steadily and per year attends close to five million foreign visitors.
