The VI Regional Conference ILGALAC in Varadero, Cuba honors the country’s progress in promoting respect for sexual orientation.
The 7th Cuban Day against Homophobia includes a regional conference of the International Association of Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Trans and Intersex People in Latin America and the Caribbean (ILGALAC), for the first time in Cuba
According to event organizers to be held from 5 to 25 May, the celebration of the VI Regional Conference ILGALAC in Varadero, Cuba, is a recognition of the country’s progress in promoting respect for sexual orientation and gender identity.
Founded in 1978, ILGA International Association is the only community-based Non Governmental focused on achieving equal rights for lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans and intersex.
Last December, as part of the International Day Human Rights the ILGALAC Regional Office was inaugurated in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
The 7th Cuban Day Against Homophobia, organized by the National Centre for Sex Education (Cenesex), Ministry of Health, include educational, recreational, cultural actions , sports and training with a social focus.
The purpose is to contribute to the education of the whole society, with an emphasis on family and youth, respecting the right to free and responsible sexual orientation and gender identity as an exercise of equity and justice, organizers said.
