Cuban President met with Paraguayan Foreign Minister Jorge Lara, on an official visit to Cuba, Granma newspaper reported on Friday. During the meeting, both officials reviewed the good state of bilateral relations, and ratified the willingness to continue strengthening them.
They also discussed regional and international issues.
Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez also attended the meeting. He officially welcomed his Paraguayan peer on Thursday morning.
Lara described his visit to Cuba as an opportunity to strengthen bilateral relations and unity among the Latin American peoples.
Cuba and Paraguay established diplomatic relations in 1902, but they were broken off in December 1960. The two countries reestablished relations at a consular level on August 1, 1996, and at a diplomatic level on November 8, 1999.
