Cuban president Raul Castro sent a congratulatory message to his Angolan counterpart Jose Eduardo Dos Santos for the victory of the Popular Movement for the Liberation of Angola (MPLA), in the general elections of August 31.Dos Santos is a leader of the MPLA, one of the nine political parties that attended the vote, in which the President and Vice President of the Republic were elected, as well as the 220 deputies to the National Assembly.

“I reiterate the willingness to continue strengthening the close relations of friendship and cooperation between our two nations”, said the document.
