The central Cuban territory of Sancti Spiritus has been visited this year by over 1 300 solidarity friends, most of whom came from European countries.

Sources from the Institute of Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP, in Spanish) in this province, referred to the visits paid by international groups  such as the Nordic and Cruz del Sur brigades, as well as by specialized tourism groups. The visitors have exchanged ideas with local residents via the participation in lectures and talks held in the community, added the source.

The support of Latin American, African, and Caribbean students was also highlighted. They are part of the Solidarity with the Five Committees that exist in the different local universities.

The struggle against the U.S. blockade on the island, and the campaigns for the liberation of the Cuban Five are some of the major goals of ICAP in Sancti Spiritus.
