Nearly 300 tons of cyprinids have been sent to the fish processing industry in Sancti Spiritus, as part of the intensive fishing campaign that for 15 days has been going on in this territory.

This strategy, mainly carried out in May, is being implemented at the Zaza dam. The procedure prevents the massive death of fishes due to the diminution of the levels of water and oxygen in the reservoir. Other Cuban territories like Villa Clara, Ciego de Avila, Mayabeque and Cienfuegos have been also supplied with several tons of the fish caught in Sancti Spiritus.

Sources from the fish business in the territory informed Escambray that since the fallen rain is yet insufficient, it is recommended to catch large amounts of fish in order to avail new cycles of fish breeding.
