Cuban Elections: the People to Exchange with Legislators

Cuban general elections are taking place this year, in a process which started with the nomination of delegates, and is to conclude on February 3rd. Cuban general elections are taking place this year, in a process which started with the nomination of delegates, and is to conclude on February 3rd.

The 25 candidates to the Cuban Parliament and the 75 delegates to the Provincial Assembly of the People’s Power in Sancti Spiritus are to hold, as part of this stage of the general elections in Cuba, meetings with workers, students and the general population where they will exchange experiences and opinions to be represented in both government bodies.

For the more of 350 000 voters in the Cuban central province, the meetings will be held until January 31st, and they represent an example of democracy.

Domingo Gutierrez Gutierrez, president of the Provincial Candidacy Commission, explains that we are talking about common people, prestigious workers, who only differ in some professions; from the top leaders to grass root delegates and presidents of Popular Councils.

These will be very important days of information and exchanging, in which the Cuban people will meet their future representatives, who are prepared with the latest news on the social and economic situation of the most essential sectors in the territory.

Cuban general elections are taking place this year, in a process which started with the nomination of delegates, and is to conclude on February 3rd when the people exercise their right to vote those who were nominated in the Municipal Assemblies of the People’s Power.
