Sancti Spiritus Rice Producers Help Reduce Importations

Rice farmers in this central Cuban province are the second largest rice producers in the country, as they fulfilled the recollection plan for this year. Sancti Spiritus province contributes over 20 percent of the rice consumed (about 40,000 tons), as part of the import reduction program, and more than 110,000 tons of wet rice. Farm Director Orlando Linares said that these figures exceed the plan proposed by the governmnet.

Santi Spiritus, along with Granma and Pinar del Rio, ranks among Cuba’s territories with best results in rice production. (PL)
