Delegates to the Provincial Assembly of the People’s Power in Sancti Spiritus held an extraordinary session to elect Teresita Romero Rodríguez and Eduardo Sánchez Cañizárez as president and vicepresident, respectively, of that governmental body.

The two candidates were presented once the corresponding candidature commission, as established in the Cuban electoral law, contacted the delegates for consultation on the nominees.

45-year old Teresita Romero Rodríguez was the vice president of the Provincial Assembly of the People’s Power in the territory. She’s got a master’s degree on finances. She has occupied different posts having to do with administration and governmental issues. She was the former finances and prices director in the municipality of Sancti Spiritus and also vice president of the administration council.

According to the candidature commission, she was trained at the Central Committee in 2008 and 2009 as member of the centralized reserve. She is considered an exigent, systematic and constant worker, which will definitely contribute to strEngthen the body she now chairs.

Eduardo Sánchez Cañizares, 49, is a thermo-energetic Engineer who has held administrative posts at Sergio Soto oil refinery, and Camilo Cienfuegos regional hospital. He ran the local ALASTOR enterprise for 14 years and was currently the director of the electro-mechanic company Escambray. He has a large experience as director and the results of his performance have always been positive.
