Cuba sings and celebrates 169th birthday of José Martí

All Cuba sings, dances and celebrates today the 169th birthday of teacher and politician, National Poet and the most universal of all the sons of this homeland, Jose Marti.

Cuba ratifies today its love for the Apostle of the Independence with the beginning of a diverse program of activities, fostered by the Martiano Program Office and its director, Eduardo Torres Cuevas.

The tribute aims to disclose the value and significance of Martí´s ideas in the context of Cuban history, consolidate national and patriotic awareness and the real content of his concepts.

The Singing Academy Mariana de Gonitch and its professional company Las Voces will conclude today a tribute that began last 21st, on the occasion of the 169th birthday of the author of La Edad de Oro, a book Marti wrote for children.

After a rigorous restoration process carried out by artisan Eduardo Covo, the return to the National Museum of Music of the musical box that the Apostle gave to his wife Carmen Zayas Bazán, will be another gift for the occassion.

In order to link chidren with Martí´s ideas and works, it is also a call for the Marti Reading Contest that every year the Cuban National Library promotes, where an exhibition dedicated to Martí is open.

The results of the contest will be announced on January 28, 2023, on the occasion of the 170th anniversary of the Apostle’s birth and coinciding with the 5th International Conference for the Balance of the World.
