President of Venezuela, Nicolas Maduro, met with his Colombian counterpart, Juan Manuel Santos in Puerto Ayacucho (Amazonas state).

The President of Colombia inaugurated today a naval unit in Puerto Carreno, capital of the department of Vichada, on the border with Venezuela.

The agenda of the meeting included the signing of several agreements and declarations to the press following the appointment.

The meeting, announced last week by both statesmen, comes after a period of tension between the two countries.

Problems arose when Santos received the former presidential opponent candidate Henrique Capriles, defeated by Maduro on April 14 elections.

The Venezuelan right leader ignored the socialist victory in the elections and encouraged opposition sectors to launch street actions, which left 11 deaths.
