Representatives of more than 2,000 organizations and associations participated Wednesday in the Second Forum of the Cuban Civil Society ”Pensando America” (Thinking America), at the Lazaro Peña Theater in this capital.

The meeting was aimed at establishing proposals and positions with a view to the 8th Summit of the Americas, scheduled in Peru on April 13-14 and whose central theme will be Democratic Governance against Corruption.

In statements to journalists, the president of the Cuban United Nations Association, Fermin Quiñones, stated that the Second Forum of the Cuban Civil Society would denounce Venezuela’s exclusion from the regional event and the political and media campaigns against democratically elected governments, which are trying to isolate and make them special.

The Summit of the Americas is a space to discuss proposed issues, not to make them special or isolate them, Quiñones said.

According to Quiñones, the meeting would also visualize concrete results of our participation in key issues for Cuba such as social justice, development and cooperation with other peoples.

The Cuban civil society is made up of more than 2,000 organizations and associations involved in practically all branches of the political, social, economic, cultural and religious life of the country.
