Pope Francis promised to pray for peace and prosperity in Cuba, where he received the respect, affection, and hospitality of the people of the Caribbean nation.
“After my departure from Cuba I want to express my deepest gratitude to Your Excellency and to the Cuban people for the warm welcome to your country”, said His Holiness in a message sent to Cuba President Raul Castro, from the plane that brought him to the United States.

Message from ALITALIA 4001, to His Excellency Raul Castro Ruz, president of the Council of State and Minister of the Republic of Cuba, Havana:
“After my departure from Cuba I want to express my deepest gratitude to Your Excellency and to the Cuban people for the warm welcome to your country”.
