Cuba Recognizes Exclusion from U.S. List on Terrorism

Cuban Foreign Ministry acknowledged the decision of the US government to exclude the island from the list of countries sponsoring terrorism.

In a statement of the General Director for the USA at the Cuban Ministry of Foreign Relations, Josefina Vidal, the action of US President Barack Obama on this issue was reported last night.
In this regard, the Foreign Ministry said the American president issued the “Certification of termination of the appointment of Cuba as a state sponsor of terrorism”.

By this action, President Obama has decided to exclude Cuba from the list of state sponsors of international terrorism and report to this effect to Congress, which will have 45 days to decide.

The Government of Cuba acknowledges the legitimate decision of the President of the United States to eliminate the island of a list in which never should have been included, it says.

In this regard, Vidal recalled that the country has been the victim of hundreds of terrorist acts that have claimed the lives of three thousand 478 people and have incapacitated two thousand 099 Cuban citizens.

As the government has reiterated on numerous occasions, Cuba rejects and condemns all acts of terrorism in all its forms and manifestations as well as any action which has the aim to encourage, support, finance or cover such activities, ratifies the statement.
