The president of Gabon, Alí Bongo Ondimba, transmitted the Cuban authorities by means of Emmanuel Issoze, Foreign Minister of the African country, his desire to travel to this Caribbean nation next September.
In accordance with the Gabonese diplomat, one of the intentions of his official visit to Cuba that started last Monday – takes interest in specifying the arrangements for the trip of the Gabonese President, who is interested in coming here after the General Assembly of the United Nations in September.
During a meeting with his Cuban counterpart, Bruno Rodríguez, the Foreign Minister of Gabon highlighted the bilateral and cooperation links joining the two nations, as well as the interest to go forward in the deepening of these links.
Bongo Ondimba sent Cuban President Raúl Castro a warm and friendly message of congratulation last January, in occasion to the 53rd anniversary of the victory of the Cuban Revolution.
In his message, the Gabonese President reasserted the will and desire, so much personal as of his government, of working for the sake of the diversification of the areas of cooperation to make use better of the potentials of both nations.
Cuba and Gabon established diplomatic relations on March 26, 1974 and in 2004 they started the medical cooperation that they both maintain up to now with satisfactory results. (Taken from PL)
