The attack yesterday also wounded 16 after an 18-year-old Iranian man, with no criminal background or known motivations, opened fire against a crowd.

Police reports indicate there were several children among the victims and they are still trying to determine the attacker’s main objective, although so far authorities have ruled out terrorism as the cause.

German interior minister declared a national mourning day on Saturday, his Department announced through their official Twitter account.

Chief of staff Peter Altmaier said that chancellor Angela Merkel was being “constantly briefed” on developments in Munich and will convene the German security council on Saturday in Berlin.

Munich was paralyzed for a while, after the temporary suspension of transport and the declaration of a state of emergency, in addition to the deployment of about 2,300 troops on the streets.
