Delegations from the European Union and Cuba began today the V round of negotiations of an agreement on political dialogue and cooperation between both parties.

Christian Leffler, director for the Americas of the European External Action Service, who heads the delegation of the so called old continent, was received at the headquarters of the Cuban Foreign Ministry by Deputy Foreign Minister Abelardo Moreno.

Both personalities expressed their satisfaction and optimism to be gathered again to discuss concerning the agreement.

During the meeting will be addressed, in order to be completed, the chapters for cooperation and trade; and will start the discussion on the chapter on political dialogue.

As in the previous four sessions, they shall be considered as cross-cutting issues, the role of civil society, human rights and good governance.

After starting in April 2014 the negotiations were held four rounds of trade: Havana, 29 and 30 April 2014, Brussels, 7 and 8 August 2014; Havana, 4 and 5 March 2015; and Brussels, 15 and 16 June 2015.
