Caged Tilapia Fish Stands Out in Sancti Spiritus

Caged tilapia fish is currently regarded as one of the most sustainable lines within the aquaculture business in Sancti Spiritus, central Cuba. According to Mirelys Montelongo Álvarez, from the local fishing company (PESCAPIR), breeding has been successful in the three fish-breeding farms that exist in the territory, and the best results are reported in Yaguajay.

According to Mirelys Montelongo Álvarez, from the local fishing company (PESCAPIR), breeding has been successful in the three fish-breeding farms that exist in the territory, and the best results are reported in Yaguajay.

Montelongo Alvarez also said that a pre-breeding process is being implemented with 500 000 juvenile tilapia guift fishes, all of which will later on be transferred to the cages. This procedure has positive influence on the fishes’ survival, average weight, and productive capacity.
