Sancti Spiritus Present in Int Higher Education Congress

The central Cuban province of Sancti Spiritus will be represented in the VIII International Higher Education Congress Universidad 2012 with 15 papers and sixteen delegates. The event will be held February 13-17 at Havana’s Convention Palace.

The event will be held February 13-17 at Havana’s Convention Palace. According to the local Jose Marti University (UNISS, in Spanish)’s sources, the papers contain, among others,  investigations on the use of biogas and its impact on the scientific development of the city, and methodologies for the management of the internationalization of higher education centres and the scientific extension according to already implemented results.

UNISS’s Rector Manuel Valle Fasco will head the Internationalization of Higher Education workshop. The congress, will be attended by some 2 400 experts from 60 countries.

Lectures have been announced by renowned personalities such as Havana’s Historian Eusebio Leal Spengler, Brazilian theologist and writer Frei Betto, UNESCO’s Deputy Assistant Director-General for Education Quian Tiang and Nobel Peace Prize winner Adolfo Pérez Esquivel.

Other important activities to be carried out during the event are the IV Symposium on Medical Education and the commemoration of the 60th anniversary of Central University of Las Villas.
