This day’s elections will be held in localities where no candidate was selected past November 27. In order to be elected, a candidate must reach 50% + one of the total votes to serve as district delegate in a non-professional manner for five years´ time.
According to authorities of the National Electoral Council (CNE), as many as 5,728,220 voters cast their vote in the first round, accounting for 68.58% of the more than 8,300,000 voters called to the polls.
The results showed that 11,502 Cubans were elected as district delegates in the municipal elections of the People’s Power.
