The suspension was due to the constant aggressions against FARC leaders amid the political exercise to which they are entitled after being constituted as a political party
The FARC announced today the suspension of its electoral campaign, due to the constant physical and verbal aggressions against its leaders amid the political exercise to which they are entitled after being constituted as a political party.
Caracol Radio station reported that the call was motivated by the decision to temporarily suspend the political campaign to the Congress and the presidential campaign of candidate Rodrigo Londoño (Timochenko).
Evidence was presented to the public opinion about the orchestration of the attacks against the top leader of the former guerrilla, Timochenko, and other members of the leadership, such as former FARC negotiator in Havana, Iván Márquez.
The FARC has repeatedly denounced that it has not had the guarantees required for the tours of the country’s different departments that are a fundamental part of the electoral campaign, despite the government’s condemnation to the violence actions against FARC candidates.
