Barcena is attending the 56th Board of Directors meeting of the Regional Conference on Women in Latin America and the Caribbean, underway in Havana
President Raul Castro Ruz has received Alicia Barcena Ibarra, executive secretary of the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC), Granma newspaper reported today.
The meeting between the Cuban leader and the head of ECLAC took place yesterday in a cordial atmosphere, during which both officials talked about the regional situation, the impact caused by Hurricanes Irma and Maria, and the earthquakes that affected Mexico, according to a report published in the official gazette.
Barcena is visiting Havana on occasion of the 56th Board of Directors meeting of the Regional Conference on Women in Latin America and the Caribbean, running since yesterday in this capital convened by ECLAC. The international official conveyed the Cuban president her gratitude for the support to hold this regional meeting here, the daily states.
Vice-President of the Council of Ministers and Minister of Economy and Planning, Ricardo Cabrisas Ruiz; and Foreign Minister, Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla; also attended the meeting between the Cuban leader and the ECLAC executive secretary.
