Winter in Cuba: Talking about Rain

A rainier winter than usual takes place in Cuba due to the presence of the El Niño/Southern Oscillation (ENSO) event, with strong rank in the equatorial Pacific Ocean, Granma newspaper reported

The Forecast Center of the Institute of Meteorology suggesting a winter season with accumulated rainfall above normal in most of the Cuban archipelago, are fulfilled hitherto, the newspaper said.

According to Cuban meteorologists, this rainier winter than usual, which responds to anomalies in the weather of that geographical area, could increase in February and March.

According to experts, during November and December, the Caribbean nation recorded a national average of 179 millimeters, representing 158 percent of the historical average of that stage.

A December hydrological bulletin, of the National Hydrological Service of the Directorate of Rational Use of the National Institute of Hydraulic Resource (INRH), indicates that the three regions exceeded their regular reports, while 148 of 168 municipalities also achieved that status.
