On Wednesday, Russian President Vladimir Putin offered an affectionate welcome to a Cuban delegation headed by the Cuban Vice-President of the State and Ministers Councils, Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez.
Diaz-Canel and his accompanying delegation are on their first official visit to Moscow to review the state of relations between Russia and Cuba, which is considered to be excellent.
The two men talked about progress in economics and commerce since the visit of President Putin to Havana in July 2014, and discussed the possibilities for the effective participation of Russia in the 2020 Cuban Economic and Social Program.
The meeting was also attended by the Cuban Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs Rogelio Sierra and the Cuban Ambassador to Russia, Emilio Lozada.
On the Russian side was the Vice-President of the Government, Dmitri Rogozin, heading the Intergovernmental Commission; Foreign Affairs Vice Minister Serguei Ryabkov and the presidential adviser for Foreign Policy Yuri Ushakov.
In a message on Twitter, Cuban Vice Minister Rogelio Sierra stated that with the visit of the first Cuban Vice-President to Russia, the bonds of brotherhood and friendship between Cuba and Russia have become much closer.
