French intellectual Salim Lamrani presented on Monday at the United Nations Organization for Education, Science and Culture (UNESCO) headquarters his book Fidel Castro, Hero of the Disinherited, where he highlights the world transcendence
of the Cuban leader.

According to Granma newspaper Lamrani stressed the respect and admiration the peoples of Latin America, Africa and Asia feel for Fidel Castro because he has always been a defender of the rights of the great majorities that were excluded for so long.

He added that the Cuban leader has a great historical legitimacy; since he left behind all the privileges of the social class he was born in to become a defender of justice in his country and the world.

The French intellectual said that the reason Fidel was able to lead Cuba for so long, in a context of hostilities from the US, was the wide support he had from his people.
