Over a Million Immigrants Arrive in Europe this Year

At least 522,134 immigrants came to Europe in 2015, and another 2,892 were killed or disappeared in the attempt in 2015, while 10,000 enter Germany daily, said official sources in Geneva.

The International Organization for Migration said of this total, 388,324 arrived in Greece through the Aegean Sea, while 130,891 did so via Italy, and 2,819 through Spain.

However, crossing the Mediterranean towards Italy was the deadliest route, with 2,691 deaths this year, while in the Aegean 246 lives were lost near the Turkish coast, from which most of the Syrians depart.

The Italian Navy and Coast Guard announced the rescue of 1,151 undocumented immigrants in the last 24 hours, who departed from ports in Libya, where immigrants from the Levant and North Africa move to travel to Europe.

But the so-called Balkanic route is the one with a more intense flow, through Greece, Macedonia, Serbia, Croatia and Hungary, to travel to Austria or Germany from there.

This has created an immigration chaos in Eastern European nations, with the arrival yesterday of five thousand 800 refugees from neighboring Serbia, for a total of 85,000 since last 15th.

However, some media in the capital considered exaggerated the figures supplied by Zagreb, because Belgrade only reported the passing of 44,000 foreigners through its territory this month.

The Croatian authorities also warned that they will not allow in any way a second pathway for undocumented immigrants on its border with Montenegro, and urged foreigners to travel to the north, on the border with Serbia.

The Croatian Interior Minister Ranko Ostojic, said that the conditioning of a camp near the southern town of Dubrovnik was to accommodate police, charged with keeping watch over the border, and not precisely to receive refugees in that area.

Hungary reported that 6,800 immigrants entered from Croatia in a day. These people are moved to areas near the border with Austria, and from there, the vast majority of them travels to Germany, where about 10,000 foreigners arrive daily.

A total of 150,000 undocumented immigrants arrived in the so-called locomotive of the European economy since the middle of this month, and the Siemens Company offered 100 training places for refugees.
