Alhaji Muhammad Mumuni, secretary general of the African, Caribbean and Pacific Group of States (ACP), praised Cuba support to African nations.
Mumuni highlighted the Cuban role in the fight for independence of various African countries and its collaboration not only sending highly qualified human resources but also training various generations of local professionals in many fields.
Mumuni praised particularly the role of Cuba in fighting the Ebola epidemic and expressed the admiration and respect of ACP members for Cuba, which he described as a very high-profile country member, an example of solidarity and cooperation.
Mumuni made the statements during a meeting held with Norma Goicochea, ambassador of Cuba to Belgium, Luxembourg and the European Union, said the release from the Cuban Embassy in Belgium.
Goicochea highlighted the importance of ACP for Cuba, while reiterating the Cuban Government’s willingness to continue its active participation within the organization and also its cooperation with member countries.
She also appreciated the support given by ACP to Cuba, particularly in the struggle for the elimination of the US economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed on Cuba for more 50 years.
