Cuban President Raul Castro today congratulated the Contemporary Dance Company on the occasion of the 55th anniversary of its creation by Ramiro Guerra.
In a letter to the company, the president evokes the founding of the group in 1959 and recalled that the company has represented the country in dozens of tours worldwide.
Danza Contemporanea has founded an innovative dance language involving the roots that identify its people and is part of the vanguard of the Cuban revolutionary culture
Culture Minister Julián González gave the letter to Miguel Iglesias, director of the group, who welcomed such a high honor and announced their upcoming tours. Danza Contemporanea was born under the name Conjunto de Danza Moderna, and in 1987 adopted its present name.
