President Rafael Correa will attend the Internacional Book Fair of Havana, Cuba (FIL), to run from february 13 to the 23, to present his book “From Banana Republic to No Republic.”
Minister of Culture and Heritage, Francisco Velasco, made the announcement today in a press conference, and said that the Ecuadorian delegation also includes several ministers like Ricardo Patino (Foreign Affairs), Guillaume Long (Human Talent) and Fernanda Espinosa (Defense).
He added that 36 important writers and intellectuals from Ecuador will also attend the fair, like Casa de las Americas Prize laureate Raul Perez Torres, who is President of the House of Ecuadorian Culture.
Also in the press conference, Cuban Ambassador to Quito, Jorge Rodriguez said that 160 world figures and 138 publishing houses have confirmed their attendance to FIL, during which the Cuban Book Institute will publish 2.50 million books, including 32 from Ecuadorian authors.
The Cuban diplomat expressed pride and satisfaction for having Ecuador this year as guest of honor of FIL and highlighted the excellent relations between the two countries, verified with the presence of President Rafael Correa in the recently concluded Second Summit of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC).
