Enrique Ojito Linares, who has been recently granted the Juan Gualberto Gomez Journalism National Prize, was recipient of the corresponding diploma from Major General and Vice President of the Council of Ministers Antonio Enrique Lussón.
The press workers’ day was marked in Sancti Spiritus, on the eve of the 120th anniversary of the foundation of Patria newspaper by Cuban National Hero Jose Marti.
Encouraged by the results obtained in the emulation set by the Union of Journalists of Cuba (UPEC), media workers shared the success of those distinguished in the ceremony.
Cuban press day celebration in Sancti Spiritus
This year, AIN journalist Cristóbal Alamo Perez was awarded the prize in the Tomas Alvarez de los Rios provincial contest, an acknowledgement to his lifework in the area.
Two local journalists were distinguished with the Féliz Elmuza medal, granted to those who have already worked for 15 consecutive years or longer in the media, while six others were winners in the Jose Camellón Lopez contest, which is celebrated every year by this time, in this territory.

The ceremony was also attended by Teresita Romero Rodríguez, president of the Provincial Assembly of the People’s Power.
