Italian film director Giuseppe Tornatore’s Cinema Paradiso will open the Italian film week this Saturday in Sancti Spiritus, central Cuba. Some 15 movies will be screened in this city until May 12, including several renowned classics .

According to local sources, some 15 movies will be screened in this city until May 12. Classics such as Mario Moricelli’s La gran Guerra(The Great War); Luchino Visconti´s Rocco y sus hermanos (Rocco and his Brothers); Federico Fellini´s Amarcord, and Roberto Benigni´s La vida es bella(Life is Beautiful) are included in the week program organized by Rodolfo Dalpane, Domenico Gavella and Libero Errani, members of the Italia-Cuba Friendship Association´s directive board.

The Italian film week along with the movie posters exhibited in the Casa del Teatro (Theater House) are part of the Fratelli project for the liberation of the Five, a solidarity and cultural exchange undertaking that for many years has been going on in Ravenna and Sancti Spiritus.
