Over 20 000 children will be immunized against poliomyelitis in Sancti Spiritus when the 51st National Anti-polio Vaccination Campaign will be started next March 2nd.
Children aged 30 days up to two years, 11 months and 29 days, will be vaccinated March 2nd through 9th. Then, from April 20th to 27th, these children will receive the second dose of the vaccine and those aged 9 years, will be vaccinated as well.
Hygiene and Epidemiology expert and head of the immunization program in this territory Dr. Alina Villegas Hernandez, explained that the vaccine will be administered in two-cycle period of time.

Despite warnings on possible predisposition, adverse reactions to this vaccine have never been reported in this territory.
80 million free doses have been administered in Cuba for over half a century, thus every person under 64 is protected against poliomyelitis.
