The experimental stage of the process for the improvement of the National Education System and the professional training in pedagogical careers are two of the priorities for the next school year.

During the preparatory seminar for the 2017-2018 academic year, the Director of Education in Sancti Spiritus, Edelberto Cancio Lorenzo, said that improving the school organization, promoting the preventive work at community level, and moving ahead with the  maintenance and repair works in educational centers, are also among the priorities in this province.

Faced with the greatest weakness of the educational sector in the territory —the shortage of teachers—, nearly 30 students are scheduled to be trained as Professor of Mathematics for secondary education. In addition, several other students will be trained to teach subjects like accounting, informatics, transportation and construction in technical schools.

By September, more than 71,000 students are expected to be welcomed in the different schools of the territory.
