The Cuban athlete (F47 category) lost the gold medal by three centimeters to New Zealander Anna Grimaldi at the Joao Havelange Stadium of Rio de Janeiro.

Australian Carlie Beattie, with 5, 57 centimeters, a favorite of many
specialists, walked away with the bronze medal.

Castillo will also compete in the 100, 200 and 400 meters dash, distances in which she expects to repeat her victories of London 2012, on September 11, 13 and 16, respectively.

Also on Thursday, another Cuban sprinter, Omara Durand, set a Paralympic record in the qualifying round of the 100 meters T12, with 11.58 seconds.

Durand will compete again in Friday in the semifinals.
