World Series of Boxing (WSB) Season IV Champions Cuba Domadores have maintained their flawless start to Season V with a 4-1 home victory over British Lionhearts in Havana.

The Domadores have tasted success in all six of their fixtures this season, while the Lionhearts have now lost all four of their away WSB matches.

Cuban Flyweight (52 kg) Yosbany Veitia began the evening by winning his 11th WSB match in a row with a wide points victory over two-time European medalist José Kelvin de la Nieve Linares.

Lightweight (60 kg) Lazaro Alvarez then made it 2-0 on the night for Cuba as he dominated Oualid Belaoura on all three scorecards.

The overall victory was assured for the Domadores when Roniel Iglesias Sotolongo won every round to subject Britain’s Haizel Ekow Tabiri-Essuman to his first defeat of the season.

Light heavyweight (81 kg) Julio Cesar De La Cruz is one of the best performers in his weight class in the entire boxing world, and lived up to his reputation when he won every minute of every round against Lionheart John Newell.

British Lionhearts Super heavyweight (91+ kg) Joseph Joyce then won a consolation match for his Franchise, but an important one for his Olympic Games qualification hopes by earning a split decision verdict against Lenier Eunice Pero to continue his undefeated record in WSB, while giving the Cuban his first WSB defeat.

Cuba Domadores travel away next week to Ukraine Otamans, while British Lionhearts welcome Mexico Guerreros to London.
