According to sources from the local labour office, self-employment shows a growing trend, with most self-employed workers engaged in food-related activities. Nevertheless, there are several other jobs in which people have been lately involved.

Official statistics reported favourable for private businesses last year in Sancti Spiritus, where they contributed over 39 million pesos on tax payment.

Experts affirm that non-private jobs are expected to increase during 2014, when non-agricultural cooperatives will be also expanded.
