Army General Raul Castro, president of the Cuban Councils of State and Ministers, held talks on Friday with Valentina Matvienko, President of the Council of the Federation of Russia’s Federal Assembly.  During the meeting, the two parties ratified the excellent state of bilateral relations and expressed satisfaction for the visit as an example of the strengthening of the historic bonds of friendship between the two parliaments and nations.

The distinguished visitor was accompanied by Ilyas M. Umajanov, vice-president of the Council of the Federation of Russia’s Federal Assembly, and Mijail Kamynin, Russian ambassador to Havana. Also attending the meeting were Esteban Lazo and Bruno Rodriguez, president of the National Assembly of the People’s Power (Parliament), and minister of foreign affairs, respectively.
