Almaty 2013: Yosvany Veitia Guarantees Bronze at World Championship

Sancti Spiritus light flyweight Yosvany Veitia guaranteed the bronze medal in the 2013 World Boxing Championships held in Almaty by beating 2-1 Italian Manuel Cappai. Sancti Spiritus light flyweight Yosvany Veitia guaranteed the bronze medal in the 2013 World Boxing Championships held in Almaty by beating 2-1 Italian Manuel Cappai.

Veitia’s win took place in the quarter finals, where two of his teammates lost and some other obtained victory.

The boxer from the Cuban central province of Sancti Spiritus defeated 2-1 Italian Manuel Cappai in the 49 kg division where he has three triumphs already.

In his world debut, Yosvany Veitia had beaten 3-0 Mark Barriga of the Phillipines in a match highly praised in the digital site of the event.

The other Cuban with victory was Yasnier toledo, better than Indian Manoj Kumar in the 64kg.

 

The losses were for Olympic champion Robeisy Ramírez (56 kg) and Erislandy Savon (91kg).
