The involvement of students from the municipality of Fomento, Sancti Spiritus,  in coffee harvest tasks is considered a good chance for them to get aware of the importance of work in their future lives.

Beside solving somehow the shortage of labour force in the coffee plantations, students can be trained on how to produce and save resources, which is key aspect of this mission.

According to local sources, secondary and pre-university students are the ones who participate in the coffee harvest. Their support is very necessary since the coffee grains grew ripe quickly due to recent rains and regular workers are not enough to meet the job.

Trinidad is another region in Sancti Spiritus where students also participate in the collection of the coffee grains.
