Over a Hundred Families in Sancti Spiritus Benefit from Subsidized Construction Materials

Sancti Spiritus residents having low-income or presenting difficulties to repair or build their homes have benefited from the granting of subsidies for the purchase of construction materials.

Felix Oscar Gonzalez Echemendia, senior specialist of the Trade Business Group in this central region of Cuba, explained to Escambray that the number of cases approved by the Board of Municipal Administrations goes to 129, while another group continues under evaluation by the commissions created for the purpose.

He added that most of the cases approved were previously assisted in the units dealing with the sale of materials (11 across Sancti Spiritus province), where people came to request the product and get the prefecture, a document they must present in the banks for issuing the check, and in a period of five days they  proceed with the purchase of the resort.

The specialist advises that with the exception of steel, sold in correspondence with the amounts described in each contract, those interested may acquire any subsidized material in the units, until the financial amount that was authorized runs out.

Since this program began in late March to date, about 60 families who bought the building materials covered by the subsidy consumed half or more of the numbers authorized as part of this assistance.

The products with most demand include: cement, blocks, aggregates, doors and windows, floor slabs, veneer walls, bathroom sets, and to a lesser extent the brick, which add to a list of over 200 items that are marketed by the trade system.
