According to Leonel Díaz Camero, delegate of the Cuban Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment (CITMA) in Sancti Spiritus, the so-called IA Cuba 31, 32, 37 and 39 constitute one of the greatest scientific contributions in the territory during the last three years.

The IA Cuba 31, mostly grown in Sancti Spiritus, Villa Clara and Ciego de Avila, is a short-cycle rice variety which needs much less water, is very efficient and is very resistant to plagues and diseases.

The also efficient and higher quality IA Cuba 32 variety is very suitable for selling purposes, as well as the IA Cuba 37 kind, although it is only grown in Sancti Spiritus and Villa Clara provinces.

Unlike the previous ones, the IA Cuba 39 is a dry farming variety, which cooks well and is very little damaged in the industrial process.
