Heavy Rains Hit Mountains and South of Sancti Spiritus

According to specialists from the Provincial Meteorological Center (CMP) heavy rains have hit the mountain areas and the southern part of Trinidad and Sancti Spiritus, with the highest cumulative reported between 8:00 am Tuesday and 8 : 00 am Wednesday in the measuring points of Topes de Collantes, 331, 5 millimeters (mm) and Casilda, 306

According to specialists from the Provincial Meteorological Center (CMP) heavy rains have hit the mountain areas and the southern part of Trinidad and Sancti Spiritus, with the highest cumulative reported between 8:00 am Tuesday and 8 : 00 am Wednesday in the measuring points of Topes de Collantes, 331, 5 millimeters (mm) and Casilda, 306 mm.

Favorable weather conditions continue to prevail for the entire Cuban central province for the rest of Wednesday, but with greater intensity to the southern and mountain areas.

According to Water Resources, in the last 24 hours heavy rains (above 100 mm) were accumulated  in 19 areas of the Cuban central province, mostly concentrated in the south, meanwhile, other significant records are reported at the station located in the road of Casilda to Trinidad, which accumulated 280 mm, in the heritage city itself, 234 mm and in the coastal town of Tunas de Zaza, 211.

In the provincial capital of Sancti Spiritus, rainfall report was 57 mm in the airport area and 62 in Los Olivos.

According to the forecast issued by the specialist Freddy Ruiz, favorable weather conditions continue to prevail for the entire province for the rest of Wednesday, but with greater intensity to the southern and mountain areas.

The specialist said that rainy conditions will prevail today and tomorrow, since the climatic process is moving slowly into the Gulf of Mexico and this causes the continued rainfall activity in the western half of Cuba.
