Sancti Spiritus baseball players Yuliesky Gourriel and Frederich Cepeda lead Roosters for the 51st Cuban Baseball National Season, to be opened the upcoming November 27th.

After two preparation games held vs. The Orangemen from Villa Clara, Roosters’ manager Ruperto Zamora explained that along with the Olympic duo, catchers Eriel Sanchez, Yenier Bello, Niorkel Cervantes and rookie Sefer Rios are also in the roster.

Besides Yulieski, infield will be defended by Yunier Mendoza, Orlando Acebey, Jose R. Alfonso, Yoandi Baguet, Raikel Morales, Yordanis Rodriguez, Lourdes Yunielkis Gourriel and debutants Angel Luis Garcia y Guillermo Gonzalez.

 

The outfield representatives are: Cepeda, Livan Monteagudo, Robersi Ramos, Yunieski Gourriel, Aramis Gomez and Dunieski Barroso.

 

The pitching staff is lead by Ismel Jimenez, Angel Peña, Noelvis Hernandez, Yoen Socarras and lefty Yamichel Perez. The rest of the chosen are Yoharisleibis Panama, Dani Gonzalez, Yaniel Sosa, Jorge Luis Perez (LH) and rookies Leodanis Perez, Omar Guardarrama and Javier Vazquez (LH).

 

The staff accompaning manager Zamora involves Carlos Perez, Javier Araujo, Lazaro Martinez, Roberto Ramos and Juan De Dios Peña.

 

Sancti Spiritus opens the season by facing current champion Pinar del Rio in their headquarters. From December 3rd to the 5th they will return home to fight Santiago de Cuba.

 

Cuban baseball national season kicks off on November 27th with the encounter between champion Pinar del Rio and runner up Ciego de Avila.
