Ecuadorian President Rafael Correa, reiterated his strong condemnation of the US blockade against Cuba, which he described as an attack against Inter American rights and the human rights of Cubans. This blockade has nothing to do with the process of changes that the Cuban people are experiencing, he affirmed. Correa also said that the blockade of nearly 50 years includes medication for the Cuban people, “but nobody says anything or goes to the Inter American Commission on Human Rights (CIHD), or travels to Washington to condemn the blockade”.

This blockade has nothing to do with the process of changes that the Cuban people are experiencing, assured Correa during his regular conversation with the media in Guayaquil.

“These changes are sovereign decisions of Cuba, even the leaders of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro and Raul Castro, recognize that there must be profound changes”.

“It is important to emphasize that it is impossible to analyze the Cuban reality without taking the blockade into account. Imagine if the US blockades us or Colombia or Peru, we would not even last three months, while Cuba has resisted for several decades”, he said.
